Radar Magazine

Our Role*: Art Direction + Design

We were design directors for two issues of one of the (many) incarnations of Radar magazine. For this snarky, know-it-all politics and culture rag, we started by designing the logo, setting up the grids and templates and selecting typefaces. Magazines are a whole world unto themselves. The up-front departments got a stricter grid and template, while the hard hitting (and sometimes bratty) Features section needed an independent attitude that was visually flexible and could shift with content. Oh, and the best part was that we got to work with Esquire’s cover genius George Lois.

*Completed at Makelike, while Topher was a partner there.
